Sir David Jason's 'harsh' five-word warning to Jay Blades after awkward Only Fools error
As The Repair Shop's Jay Blades took to the dance floor to the iconic Only Fools and Horses theme tune in 2021, Sir David Jason watched from the comfort of his own home, offering a blunt five-word warning to the presenter.
During the 2021 Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special, the 84 year old TV veteran was underwhelmed by Blades' performance. In his new memoir, he recalled: "But I know what a wardrobe falling down the stairs looks like, and that was my overall impression of Jay's jive.
"Harsh? OK, possibly a little bit ... But I had certainly seen big pieces of wooden furniture move more smoothly than Jay did in the routine's trickier moments."
As Jay finished his routine, Sir David gazed at his TV screen and delivered five words of advice: "Stick to mending things, matey."

Jay Blades expressed his immense gratitude to the Only Fools and Horses legend for permitting the use of the iconic theme tune, extending an invitation to Sir David and his spouse to visit The Repair Shop set.

"We're both big admirers of that show.
"Indeed, it's one of the shows Gill and I regularly watch together with completely equal enthusiasm on both sides," Sir David recounted.
Earlier in the year, Blades and Sir David joined forces for a 15-part restoration series titled 'David and Jay's Touring Toolshed', which aired on BBC Two, reports Devon Live.
