BBC Question Time guest in fiery Trump rant says 'not sure if I'm allowed to say that'

QT: Audience member makes questions her comment on Donald Trump

A US election edition of BBC Question Time turned fiery tonight (October 10) as the show aired a special episode of the show from Philadelphia.

Host Fiona Bruce introduced the five-person panel featuring a combination of journalists, elected leaders and campaign advisers, which included Martina White, Malcolm Kenyatta, Mehdi Hasan, Bryan Lanza and Anthony Zurcher.

As the debate ramped up, a question was posed to the audience that read: “How much consideration should voters give to a candidate’s character?”

A female Donald Trump supporter in the audience was seen sharing her feelings, agreeing that while Trump might have his flaws, she doesn’t care because he loves his country and will get the job done.

She said: “I will say first off Trump is not a politician, but what you can say about that man is he cares about this country. If he didn’t care about America, he wouldn’t get back up on stage and then put his life on the line.”

She continued further in a passionate speech, adding: “He’s being attacked every single day. He was in office for four years and he was attacked every single day from the cabinet members who are now dissing him.”

She went on to add that the Democrats are fixated on making the election about Trump and his character with no focus on actual policies.

Things soon turned awkward when she finished with: “This is about a man who standing up to try to save this country and he’s had the balls - sorry I’m not sure if I can say that…” to which Fiona Bruce interrupted “well you already have,” as the audience and panel erupted into laughter.

Fans rushed online to comment on the exchange, with many others slamming the show for doing an American-themed episode with taxpayer money.

“Absolutely carnage on BBC Question Time US Election special,” said one viewer.

“I am absolutely loving this,” said another, alongside a clip of the exchange, and “BBC Question Time from USA right now is genuinely, comically hilarious.”

But the comments soon turned critical of the entire special.

“A Question Time put aside for the American Election. Meanwhile our new Government are struggling to convince the population of the UK that they're different to the Tories and not being held to account by the BBC news agenda. What a waste of time and Licence payers money."

While others accused Fiona of being blatantly “biased”. “I'm a Trump supporter but I didn't realise the hatred for the Don until I saw the biased BBC Question Time tonight. Fiona Bruce barely concealing her venom too. No wonder America is divided,” raged one fan.

Another added: “How can the BBC justify doing Question Time from the US? How much did that cost, not to mention damage to the climate? It’s clear from the questioning led by Bruce and the majority of panellists the whole aim is to garner votes for the Democrats! Shocking.”
