Fans of The Teacher are certain they've cracked the case regarding who really killed Zac on the school trip, and they're confident it's not Tim.

Channel 5's gripping new drama centres around a teacher entangled in a murder plot that risks both her career and her marriage.

Kara Tointon, famed for her stint in EastEnders, portrays troubled educator Dani, whose dissatisfaction with her domestic situation leads her into an affair with a colleague.

A school outing goes disastrously wrong when Dani leaves her pupils to secretly meet Jimmy, played by Will Mellor, succumbing to his persistence despite earlier restraint.

However, her impetuous act turns fatal when student Zac is discovered deceased.

Initially, it seemed Zac perished in a drowning accident after taking out a kayak and subsequently being found face down in the river.

But when foul play became apparent and a homicide probe began, the storyline thickened.

In a shocking development, Dani's spouse Tim (portrayed by Emmett J Scanlan) found himself in handcuffs for the crime on Tuesday (September 10), after evidence surfaced of him messaging Zac (Cal O'Driscoll) beyond school confines, reports the Mirror.

Yet, audience members following the tense narrative are pointing fingers at Jimmy, alleging he leveraged his brief liaison with Dani to create an alibi - and later circulated an intimate snapshot to assert his innocence.

One viewer speculated on X: "Could be Will Mellor. Deliberately s*****d her to provide himself with an alibi #TheTeacher.

"Also, why hasn't he been questioned by the Police??? #TheTeacher." (sic)

Viewers have been theorizing on the twists, with one reflecting: "#TheTeacher It was either Sienna or the son. If it is the son I bet Dani will probably let her hubby take the fall to protect him. He might have found out that his dad was grooming Zac and killed him when he threatened to blab. It could also be that Jimmy guy." (sic)

Another inquired about a plot discrepancy, saying: "And why was it okay for Jimmy to be at the vigil and not Dani?" (sic)
