Richard Hammond on 23 years with Jeremy and James as he admits 'there were bad bits'

Richard Hammond recalls 'bad bits' while filming Top Gear

Richard Hammond, star of The Grand Tour, joined Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard on Monday's episode of This Morning.

The car enthusiast was there to discuss his Workshop TV show, but the conversation quickly shifted to his final filming experience with friends and former Top Gear co-stars Jeremy Clarkson and James May.

When asked what advice he would give his younger self about working with James and Jeremy for two decades, Richard, who was only 31 when they first started, joked that he wouldn't be sitting with them now if he had given his younger self any advice.

The hosts of This Morning found this hilarious, although after a moment's thought, Richard said: "I would say, stick with it, it's going to be incredible."

He recalled bursting into tears when he received the call inviting him to join the team, and celebrating with his wife over a bottle of champagne.

Richard added: "I said to Min, 'This is going to change everything', It did!

"Yeah, there have been bad bits but for anybody over 23 years, you've got good bits and bad bits. We had it at a magnified level."

Reflecting on the end of filming with Jeremy and James, Richard admitted it felt really strange and he's still trying to process it, reports The Mirror.

He admitted: "I reckon, six months from now I'll suddenly sit in my bed in the morning and go, 'It's all over!'. It will really hit me."

For their final journey, fans will witness the iconic trio make their way to Zimbabwe in three cars they've dreamt of driving.

Behind the wheels of a Lancia Montecarlo, a Ford Capri 3-litre, and a Triumph Stag, the mates set off on one last legendary adventure.

The synopsis teases: "After arriving at the fabulous Victoria Falls, the trio decide to dodge some car-breaking local roads with an ingenious detour down a railway line and soon find themselves on familiar ground, crossing the border into Botswana.
