This Morning: Cat and Ben present show from Westfield

On Monday, September 9, This Morning ventured out of the familiar ITV studio setting for a poignant feature as Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard broadcasted live from Westfield shopping centre in West London.

Surrounded by a striking array of birthday balloons the programme drew attention to the heart-wrenching issue of youth suicide. Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard stepped away from the usual ITV studio environs, hosting 'This Morning' amidst an impactful exhibition at Westfield in West London, where ballooning numbers coloured the space for a cause.

The display, crafted with an array of vibrant balloons, was more than a spectacle; it aimed to increase awareness about the escalating crisis of young people taking their own lives.

The display was significantly orchestrated by charity C. A.L. M. displayed 6,929 balloons representing the sorrowful tally of young individuals who succumbed to suicide over the past ten years in the UK.

Every balloon carried a poignant detail of the age that the young people would have turned on their coming birthdays, reports the Mirror.

Reacting to the exhibition, viewers were touched as Cat Deeley expressed her feelings saying: "It is incredibly beautiful at the same time. It's not until you actually look at the numbers on the balloons, that you actually realise how young some of these people were."

The touching visual moved fans deeply, prompting a flood of online responses as they shared empathy along with snippets of personal experiences. One person affected by the somber issue shared: "Gosh, it's very emotional. I lost a family member to suicide and when I was in secondary school I had suicidal thoughts due to bullying."

One viewer was moved to tears, commenting: "Wow #ThisMorning beginning made me have a tear in my eyes. Seeing them balloons and all young people with ages on the balloons you get thinking how young people were sadly in obvious pain to take their own life. Very sad world we live in. Anyone struggling I hope you can get help."

Another touched by the display shared: "Those balloons really do look so gorgeous and powerful, we need better mental health services." Meanwhile, another added: "Heartbreaking seeing all those balloons."

As the show progressed, Cat and Ben did make their way back to the This Morning studio, where they resumed their usual roles, engaging with guests including the ex-Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond.

The C.A.L.M campaign, known as Missed Birthdays, has garnered significant support from families affected by suicide.

Joanna Garvey, who tragically lost her son Will, spoke to Hits Radio saying: "Taking part in this feels like a really positive way he can take part in something and make a difference to other people. Even in his death, he can do something positive, and he'd love that."
