Celebs Go Dating star Helen Flanagan dropped a bombshell on the latest instalment of the Channel 4 show. The former Coronation Street actress, aged 34, revealed the truth to show experts Paul Carrick Brunson, Anna Williamson and Dr Tara Suwinyattichaiporn.

The show sees the team of experts help single celebrities find a partner. But Helen admitted that she is "in love" with an unnamed man, who she admitted she had been seeing for several months.

She said: "I did meet someone at home, at the beginning of the year." Co-star Stephen Webb fumed: "Are you taking the p***?" before the actress went on: "I really wanted to join the agency because I kind of felt like... Obviously, I was in a really long-term relationship.

"Not much dating experience. And I really wanted to do this for me. For me to grow, to find out more about myself.

"But it's really hard because there is somebody at home, like... I have fallen for. This is becoming quite difficult for me now because unfortunately I'm comparing everybody to him. And it's making it very difficult now, when I'm dating."

Expert Anna foreshadowed celebs not actually being single (Image: Channel 4)

Expert Paul responded: "Just to be clear - you have a boyfriend, who you're in love with? You've been dating him. Are those correct?" After she nodded to confirm the facts, Paul couldn't hide his disappointment as he summed up: "So that means you lied to us..."

Speaking in a confessional, expert Anna also expressed her shock, as she said to the camera: "Pardon? You've got a boyfriend? Why on earth did she not tell us about this?"

While Anna seemingly thought that all celebs on the Channel 4 dating show were 100% single, she did admit that the show would be open and supportive of "non-monogomous" relationships.

Speaking to Express.co.uk before the new series of Celebs Go Dating aired, when asked if they also vet that all of the Celebs are actually single, Anna replied: “People come on the show, wanting different things with regards to their love life and we're also in a very progressive age as well.

“If somebody came on, that was in a non monogamous relationship then we would support that. Obviously, it makes it harder when we are putting them out on dates. But, you know, I think we haven't actually got that this series, and we haven't had it, but I would see a future where that was very a big possibility.”

Fans at home bashed Helen as they branded her a "time waster". Posting on social platform X, one angrily penned: "What a waste of space that lying Helen is."

Another added: "Helen only joined to appear on the telly , what a time waster, you join a dating show looking for a date and you already have a boyfriend, why join in the first place #CelebsGoDating"

While a third wrote: "Ahh Helen, I really liked you but you've clearly just been after some exposure and publicity. What a waste of time #CelebsGoDating."
