Netflix teases new season of Selling Sunset

Selling Sunset season eight is on the way but what is the reason behind Heather Rae El Moussa’s departure?

The 36-year-old agent had starred in the Netflix real estate show from the very beginning in 2019 and was at the heart of plenty of the series’ biggest moments.

So it’s understandable why subscribers are keen to know more about the reason why she won’t be returning for the latest episodes.

Why is Heather Rae El Moussa not in Selling Sunset season eight? 

Away from the show, she married TV personality Tarek El Moussa in 2021 and announced she was pregnant with her first child, so her role in series six was lessened.

Heather then briefly made an appearance at the start of season seven which launched in November 2023 but was not seen again as she was on maternity leave.

It was then back in March that Heather shared that she hadn’t been approached to feature in season eight, thus why she isn’t going to be in the latest series.

However, the star opened up on The Skinny Confidential Him And Her podcast on how it was a “blessing” not to return, comparing it to her experience filming with her husband on The Flipping El Moussas.

“It was a blessing that I wasn’t asked to come back because I’m so much happier filming my show with Tarek.

“We’re co-producers on our show so we pick the hours. With Selling Sunset, I never knew when I was going to be filming.

“It was last minute, it took over my life, it was hard to do my real job – real estate. It was hard to do anything else.”

She then went on to explain how the show changed, the more popular it became on Netflix.

“In the beginning, it was all fun, not crazy drama, we were all friends, any drama was just – it was simple.

“Then it just got worse and worse and worse, they started adding in more girls, it just became out of control, and I mean there’d be days I came home to him crying from the stress of filming.”

Selling Sunset season eight premieres on Friday, September 6, on Netflix.
