GMB: Susanna Reid weighs in on school absence fines

The familiar faces of the Good Morning Britain cast may be household staples on our screens, but you'd hardly recognise them in their youthful school day photos.

To celebrate the start of a new school term, some of the ITV programme's leading lights have dug deep into their photo albums to reveal their childhood snaps and the transformations are astonishing.

In anticipation of the team returning to the airwaves this autumn on Monday, September 2, stars such as Susanna Reid and Charlotte Hawkins have unearthed unseen images from their own days of academia.

One picture reveals a young Susanna, companionably seated next to a plush toy on a step, while another captures Charlotte with a beaming grin, donned in a green cardigan.

Charlotte shared about one particular image: "This photo is from primary school, I think I must have been around 6. I loved school back then, and made some really good friends," and added some advice she would have offered her younger self, saying, "The message I would tell my younger self is don't worry, keep working hard and you will get that dream job."

A separate photograph presents a sprightly Richard Madeley decked out in a yellow and black rugby uniform, clutching a ball. The television veteran shared his wisdom with his former self, suggesting that he "don't take yourself seriously" and recommended to just "chill" a tad more.

Richard Arnold and Adil Ray recently shared snapshots from their younger years, with Adil reflecting on his challenging experience during secondary school. "School isn't always the best of times for some people, and not everyone can come out with shiny A-level results and lots of great A's and B's but that doesn't mean it's the be-all and end-all," he remarked, reports OK!.

Adil further advised those with similar school experiences, "So I would say, for those who are a bit like me at school, don't worry about it it will all turn out okay."

The look back at their formative years occurred after Susanna discussed her return to the ITV show following her summer break, revealing interesting snippets of how she spent her time away from the spotlight.

With her comeback on the programme, Susanna faces the early morning wake-up calls with ease. "My body clock is so attuned to the early starts that I naturally wake at 3.40am even during the summer. I am able to go back to sleep very easily, but I also find it very easy to get up for work," she mentioned.

"I have been going for 10 years and it was amazing to really enjoy it with my boys now they are old enough to go clubbing. We go to the day clubs together and then I go back to the hotel and they go to the nightclubs," she recalled.
