Alex Jones warns The One Show viewers 'prepare yourselves' as star bursts into tears

The One Show host Alex Jones issues warning

Viewers of The One Show were braced for an emotional whirlwind when Welsh presenter Alex Jones issued a stark warning: "Prepare yourselves."

Alex set the stage, remarking: "Now we love featuring stories on The One Show about people who do incredible things for others."

Co-host Roman Kemp interjected with: "Here's a truly heartwarming story of a group of volunteers who provide closure when things are left unfinished."

She continued with a cautionary note, advising: "But I would prepare yourself, because it's a bit of an emotional ride, isn't it, this one? ".

The poignant moment unfolded as Alex and her fellow presenter Roman Kemp showcased the heartfelt endeavours of Loose Ends, a yeoman group whose mission is to finish craft projects for individuals unable to do so because of death or disability, reports Wales Online.

In a stirring scene, a guest named Erica welled up as she received the rugs her sister Rosalind had begun before cancer claimed her life in 2020. Rosalind had left the crafts incomplete, passing the baton on to her grieving siblings Ian and Erica.

Overwhelmed, Erica was moved to tears upon receiving the finished rugs, distinguished by red markers showing where Rosalinds work ended and the volunteers began.

Amidst her tearful gratitude, Erica implored volunteer Sarah for an embrace, choking back sobs as she expressed: "I'll treasure that forever. I feel hugely emotional about it, because her last rug was for me."

As the segment wrapped up, Alex beamed: "Isn't that lovely? " while Roman chimed in: "So fantastic. What a way to top off what has been a really inspiring, adventurous show? I've loved it. It's been a great Monday."

The dynamic duo was joined on the red sofa by none other than 'Pointless' maestro Alexander Armstrong and Hollywood royalty Kate Winslet, who swung by to chat about her upcoming historical drama 'Lee', drawing from the life of acclaimed war photographer Lee Miller.

In an emotionally charged segment of the show, Springwatch's very own Chris Packham opened up about the challenges of living with his incurable condition. Diagnosed with Meniere's disease back in the 1990s, Packham has fought a tough battle with hearing loss.

He disclosed: "In the early 1990s I began to suffer from a condition known as Meniere's syndrome, which led to a loss of hearing in my right ear. It was really difficult losing my hearing, but what I realised was that if I wanted to enjoy life and enjoy nature the way that I wanted to, things needed to change."
