Lorraine Kelly shares exciting baby news live on GMB as she admits 'can't stop smiling'

GMB: Lorraine speaks about being a new Grandmother

Lorraine Kelly couldn't contain her delight as she discussed becoming a grandmother with Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid and Ed Balls.

The Scottish host popped by the GMB studio on Monday to chat about the upcoming segments on her show, but the conversation quickly turned to her family.

Susanna wasted no time in congratulating Lorraine, following the news that her daughter Rosie had recently welcomed a child of her own.

An ecstatic Lorraine enthused: "Baby Billie is here, she's beautiful, she's absolutely beautiful."

With a smile radiating pure joy, Lorraine revealed how her daughter and son-in-law Steve were naturals at parenting, reports the Mirror.

She added: "It's just, it's brilliant! Everybody said to me you won't believe how much you'll love this little tiny thing and of course you do, but it's amazing to see your own child having a wee baby.

"It's just lovely, it's wonderful. I can't stop smiling!"

Ed asked what wisdom and advice she's shared with Rosie, who is now embarking on motherhood herself.

In response, Lorraine humorously dismissed her ability to offer advice on anything but emphasised the importance of grabbing sleep when possible.

Susanna pointed out that Lorraine herself could be the perfect babysitter, allowing the new parents some respite, while Ed cheekily suggested Lorraine might find it hard to give little Billie back.

To which Lorraine quipped: "Well, this is true, I honestly felt like just running out of the hospital with her! Create a diversion and I'll just run away."

The ITV host shared that back when Rosie was a newborn and would be down for a nap, she'd be tidying up the home, now telling others: "That's silly! Leave everything."

She acknowledged the outpouring of kindness and good intentions everyone has shown, revealing: "I'm going to try really hard not to be annoying and interfere and be there all the time."

To which Susanna retorted: "I said to you yesterday that interference is just another way to spell support."

Taken aback by this perspective, Lorraine expressed her excitement and announced that she was going to embrace that advice.

Good Morning Britain continues weekdays on ITV from 6am.
