Ruth Langsford opens up on ageing fears as she admits 'everything has sagged'

Ruth Langsford opens up about ageing

On a recent episode of Loose Women, panellist Ruth Langsford opened up about her thoughts on ageing.

During the programme, the 64 year old discussed a new study which found that ageing could speed up during middle age, with bodies undergoing dramatic changes at certain ages.

This led Ruth to ponder whether people are concerned about rapid ageing after reading the article.

She admitted: "It really resonated with me because definitely when I hit 60, it seemed to have happened very quickly.

"50 to 60, you know me, I don't really worry too much about age. But at 60 to now and I'm now 64, I feel like everything has kind of drooped and sagged. It's a bit, you know, a funny neck."

As the audience began to chuckle at Ruth's honesty, she humorously suggested they should be disagreeing with her observations.

Her co-star Kelly Holmes asked if she genuinely felt all the things she had pointed out about herself, to which Ruth confessed she did.

She responded: "I can see it! I look in the mirror and you know when you take a selfie or something. Before, I didn't really notice it, now I go, 'Oh god look at my neck'."

An old photo of Ruth was then displayed next to her on-screen, prompting Coleen Nolan to tell her co-star she looked more beautiful now than she did in the throwback image.

The panel agreed as Ruth disclosed that the photo had been taken 25 years ago on the show.

She opened up: "The thing is, we promote very much here body positivity, confidence, age is just a number. So, I do teeter on this tightrope of trying very hard to be that woman."

"To go, 'You know what, age is just a number, I'm very lucky, count your blessings in life, it doesn't matter, all my friends look like this'.

"Then I have those moments where I could fall off the tightrope and go, 'Oh my god look at my neck it's awful!"

Brenda Edwards revealed she had no fears about ageing (Image: ITV)

Yet, her co-star Brenda Edwards seemed unfazed by the ageing process, stating confidently: "Not bothered about it at all! Everybody says old, you can be three years old and five years old and then 50 years old."

"That's just a word, it's a mindset and I'm kind of done with people saying just because you get to 40 or 60 you're old. No, I'm young at heart."

Loose Women continues weekdays on ITV from 12:30pm.
