Robert Lindsay talks about 'deep connection' with Sherwood

Sherwood is back for another episode on BBC One and the detective drama is set in a Nottinghamshire mining village. The series is inspired by real-life murders that took place in Nottinghamshire.

Starring David Morrissey as DCS Ian St Clair, the series began with two shocking killings that shatter an already fractured community. Divisions from the 1984–85 miners' strike are ongoing.

The story is loosely based on the murder of trade unionist Keith Frogson in 2004 and began with with the murder of a former union activist, Gary Jackson (Alun Armstrong).

Time Out explained: "Both seasons are set contemporaneously, although both wear the scars of decades-old tensions that date back to the 1980s miners’ strikes and explode in modern-day Nottinghamshire."

Actor Robert Lindsay is a new addition to season two and he opened up about his personal connection to the show, dating back to his childhood.
