Sir Tom Jones opens up on The Voice role as three new stars join series

Tom Jones details why he enjoys working on The Voice

Sir Tom Jones has opened up about his future on The Voice, declaring it's "it's the perfect job". The 84-year-old singer has been a coach on the UK version of the singing competition alongside Will.i.am since 2012. Despite the show now being in its 13th season, Tom admitted he still relishes his long-standing role.

During an appearance on BBC's The One Show on Thursday (August 22), Tom revealed that his passion for the show remains unchanged. Speaking to hosts Alex Jones and Clara Amfo, the legendary vocalist said: "I like listening to new voices and hopefully I can give some advice."

"So it's the perfect job for me- well it's not really a job- it's something that I love to do. I still feel the same way now because this is the 13th series, so I still feel the same way now as I did when we started because you get new voices all the time, new people coming on," he continued, reports Wales Online.

While Tom seems set to continue in his judging role, this year's series will introduce three fresh faces to the renowned judging panel.

Following the departures of Olly Murs and Anne Marie, The Voice UK is making a comeback on ITV, with LeAnn Rimes and McFly's Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones- who will share a seat.

The McFly bandmates will act as a single entity and agree on which singers they wish to mentor.

However, during a recent frank conversation, the duo confessed that reaching a consensus hasn't always been straightforward.

Danny, an established favourite from The Voice Kids, quipped: "We had it in our contract that any arguments wouldn't be aired."

Tom then spilled the beans on a behind-the-scenes moment.

He admitted: "There was one time when Danny grabbed my hand and slammed it on the buzzer. I was undecided but Danny had already made up his mind."

The vocal twosome is setting out to impart their substantial knowledge from 21 years in the music biz.

The pair ascended to stardom back in 2003, forming the hit band McFly with mates Harry Judd and Dougie Poynter/

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
