Jermaine Jenas 'absolutely fuming' and says 'turn it off' in on-air chat after sacking

Jermaine Jenas addresses his BBC sacking on talkSPORT

Jermaine Jenas admitted he is "fuming" about his current situation in a candid back and forth on talkSPORT. The former Match of the Day and The One Show presenter, who was sacked by the BBC following allegations of "inappropriate behaviour", made the confession when quizzed on air.

In an uncomfortable moment he refused to answer questions put to him and demanded the recording be stopped. "Can I just add, Jermaine, I can see that you are absolutely fuming," the interviewer stated leading Jenas to acknowledge "yeah".

Realising that this could be broadcasting he enquired: "Is this still on air?" When he was informed, "yeah we are still recording", Jenas demanded: "Turn it off."

The exchange came after he made a statement on air as news of his axing became public knowledge. “Right now I can’t talk about it. I can tell you I’m not happy - there are two sides to every story - and I’m going to be speaking with my lawyers on the issue," he said.

Jenas was sacked after a female member of staff on The One Show alleged she received unsolicited communications over text from him.

The BBC confirmed an investigation was launched following "allegations involving digital communications such as texts" received a few weeks ago.

In a short statement confirming his exit a BBC spokesperson said: "We can confirm Jermaine Jenas is no longer part of our presenting line-up." The communications in question were reportedly to a colleague who raised concerns about them with bosses.

Although BBC director of sport Alex Kay-Jelski told staff about Jenas’ sacking at 3.39pm on Thursday (August 22) his lucrative contract, which saw him in prime time presenting roles on The One Show and Match Of the Day, was actually terminated earlier this week, because of the alleged issues relating to workplace behaviour.

He was last seen on air on July 22 when he hosted the broadcaster's flagship tea time show The One Show opposite Alex Jones. Prior to this, he had been a regular face on the BBC's platforms through his work on the magazine show and Match Of The Day.

Despite news of his sacking becoming public knowledge he still went ahead with a talkSPORT appearance on Thursday (August 22). Jenas appeared to be working as normal alongside Darren Bent, Jermaine Pennant and Aaron Lennon in the studio.

At the start of the show, he suggested that he was standing in for usual host Andy Goldstein, saying: "We're here aren't we? They have chucked me right into the hot seat."

However, he was dealt a further blow as he was dropped from his talkSPORT job while live on air. He was scheduled to host talkSPORT Drive's live show on Friday evening but will no longer be doing so following his sacking from the BBC, according to reports.

MailOnline reports plans for the 41-year-old to feature on talkSPORT Drive at the same time tomorrow have now been changed and this will no longer be the case.
