The Yorkshire Vet's Peter Wright admits 'I was wrong' as he celebrates major milestone

TM: Peter Wright thought The Yorkshire Vet 'wouldn't work'

The Yorkshire Vet star Peter Wright appeared on Monday's episode of This Morning to speak about the popular Channel 5 show making a return.

Now, in its 19th series, the veterinary show has been entertaining the nation for many years.

However, the fan-favourite revealed he didn't believe the show would be as successful as it's become.

He said: "We're in series 19 now, we've just celebrated our 200th episode. I did say to Paul Stead, who makes the production and makes the progamme, I said, 'Paul, nobody will watch this, you're wasting your money because it's all been done before, all these vet programmes have been done before', so I said it won't work."

Although Paul was adamant the show would gain popularity, which he's been proved right.

The Yorkshire Vet star added: "He [Paul] never ever ceases to remind me what I said! I was proved wrong, I'm never going to forget it."

Speaking about what fans can expect to see in the upcoming episodes, the Channel 5 star revealed he's having to adapt to technology.

He said: "They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, well our veterinary world is progressing all the time.

"There's more technology involved and in the practice I work in now, we've just involved a CT scanner and we needed it."

Teasing that it'll appear in the upcoming instalment, Peter confessed it's hard to embrace the new technology after being in his profession for 40 years.

Peter informed the duo they had to use the scanner on a labrador who had a tumour behind its eye.

He continued: "We carried out a CT scan on this dog and it was absolutely great, the detail you get from this new technology is fantastic. So, I have to learn how to use this.

The Yorkshire Vet star told Rochelle and Joel that they successfully removed the tumour from the dog's eye which was down to the CT scan's detailing.

He also told the pair viewers can expect to see a cow being de-horned in the upcoming episode with fan-favourites Jean and Steve Green.

The Yorkshire Vet continues Tuesdays on Channel 5 from 8pm.

This Morning continues weekdays on ITV from 10am.
