Antiques expert Mark Hill has become a familiar face on our TV screens thanks to his appearances on various programmes. The TV presenter is known for his appearances on Antiques Roadshow since 2007 and he joined BBC's Antiques Road Trip in 2022 where he sought to find some hidden gems to flip for profit.

The star expert has worked in antiques for many years as a specialist and is described as a “leading specialist dealer in postwar Czechoslovakian glass”. He has also worked with collectors, before he opened his own antiques shop at The Pantiles Arcade in Royal Tunbridge Wells.

But what do we know about his private life and time off the camera?

Mark Hill is 47 years old and was raised in Guildford. He attended Cranmore Preparatory School in West Horsley and the Royal Grammar School, Guildford before he studied History of Art & Architecture at the University of Reading.

With a love for antiques, he joined Bonhams as a porter in 1996 and later became a Junior Cataloguer in their Collectors Department. During his blossoming antiques career, he became a Specialist at Sotheby's in London.

Mark later became Director of Auction House Service at Internet company icollector.com.

Who is Mark Hill in a relationship with?

Mark is currently in a long-term relationship, but he has not publicly shared his partner's name. They live a private life together in their home in London with their rescue cat.

Mark sometimes shares glimpses into their relationship, including how he gifted Mark a late Victorian travelling set for Christmas. He shared: “Perfect Christmas gift! My partner knows me so well.”

In his spare time, Mark enjoys relaxing on the sofa reading a book, doing some gardening or enjoying a nice glass of wine.

Mark achieved a life-long ambition when he opened a shop at The Pantiles Arcade in Royal Tunbridge Wells in December 2022. His shop features colourful display of fine midcentury modern glass design, postwar Czech glass by designers including Emanuel Beranek, Pavel Hlava, Ladislav Oliva, Frantisek Vizner and others.

Producers include Skrdlovice, Novy Bor, Chribska, and a host of companies and glass studios across Europe including those on Murano.

Mark Hill said his shop is "very much a reflection of what makes me tick, and what I love. My job is my passion and, as a dealer, my stock is my passion".
