Antiques expert Charlie Ross has been on our TV screens for many years across several BBC antique programmes. Charlie started his career by auctioning chickens and turkeys, to antique furniture and later established his own auction house in Woburn near Milton Keynes.

Alongside his work as one of the main presenters of Bargain Hunt, he is also known for his work on Flog It!, Antiques Road Trip and Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is. It also seems like he's not planning to retire anytime soon.

"If David Attenborough can keep going, so can I. I'm 72 in June", he told the Daily Express in February 2022.

"I think as long as I enjoy it I will carry on doing it, and as long as I am wanted to do it. As long as no one says 'Who is that boring bugger? We don't want him any more'", he continued.

But what else do we know about Charlie Ross away from his appearances on TV? Below we look at his family life, surprising music career and more.

Charlie has kept his family life private and the star has rarely spoken about his family on screen or during interviews. But we do know that Charlie has been happily married to his wife Sally for more than 40 years.

The couple enjoy a quiet life together and have lived near Bicester outside Oxford since 1981.

Charlie and Sally brought up their two children, Charlotte and Olly, in the area and they have since left home and started their own families. Charlie and Sally are also grandparents to Finn, Max, Ana and Zac.

He once described his best ever holiday as when he spent two weeks in Sri Lanka with Sally where he enjoyed plenty of curry, watched cricket and explored Buddhism.

Before his time on TV, Charlie ran his own auction house in Woburn for more than 25 years and jet-set around the world conducting some huge sales. He held the record for the highest price ever achieved for a car sold by auction in the US.

The car, a 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa Prototype, sold for over $16 million in 2011. The price was exceeded in 2013, and again in 2014 for a Ferrari 250 GTO sold at Carmel, California for over $38 million.
