Jules Hudson, the beloved host of Escape to the Country for nearly two decades, has become a household name. The 54-year-old, who had a brief stint as an army officer before moving into TV production, has also presented shows such as Britain's Empty Homes, Springtime on the Farm and Countryfile.

Joining Escape to the Country in 2007, Jules has expressed his love for his role on the show. He once joked: "I hope to do Escape to the Country for as long as I'm able and for as long as the show will have me."

The TV presenter and writer relishes sharing his knowledge of rural life with those looking to make a similar move. Having relocated from London himself, Jules enjoys the tranquillity and slower pace of country living.

But who is he married to and where does he live?

Jules Hudson is happily married to Tania Fitzgerald, with whom he tied the knot in 2016. They currently reside in Hertfordshire with their young son Jack and two Labradors, Teddy and Lolo.

Before their move to the countryside, the couple lived closer to Central London due to Tania's work. However, Jules confessed that he didn't enjoy his time there due to the lack of greenery and space.

At their countryside abode, they relish a pastoral way of life, with Jules taking particular joy in refurbishing their historic house and its extensive garden. As a self-styled 'keen countryman and craftsman', he cherishes the peace and roominess that rural living provides.

Jules shared his ideal downtime scenario, a respite from the relentless pace of his professional commitments. "My perfect day is a nice, warm, sunny Sunday with myself, my wife, my son and our dogs all out gardening having a really lazy day," he revealed to the Express.

"I love it when there is no one to ring, no one to bother with and we are just immersed in the practicalities of being outdoors, getting mucky and transforming the garden."

In a candid 2023 chat with the Express, Jules opened up about domestic life with his spouse with his presenting work. He commented: "Anybody with any busy life will tell you that the balance between your working life and family life can be tricky."

"I've got a young son, we've got our own life here in Hertfordshire that is very dear to us, so you know, trying to balance it all can be difficult but it's a partnership, it's a team effort through the family. We all understand it, we have mortgages to pay and bills to pay and all the rest of it, it is our working life."
