Four in a Bed guest fumes over 'stained' bedsheets as owner admits 'mistake'

Four in a Bed: Couple apologise for holes in bed sheets

Channel 4's viewers watched the drama unfold on this week's rerun of Four in a Bed, which originally aired in 2011. The participating B&B owners came together to review their experiences and evaluations.

In the spotlight, Gill and Peter scrutinised feedback forms to understand why a particularly unimpressed couple had marked them down with a measly five for cleanliness.

The detail that caught everyone's attention was Melvyn's commentary on the provided accommodations, specifically critiquing creased sheets that bore a small hole and an undesirable stain.

Standing by his assessment, Melvyn sternly said "I think your staff should have gone through it, much more thoroughly."

A forthright Peter accepted the fault, acknowledging: "That is our mistake and we totally take that on the chin."

However, the exchange grew tense as Melvyn didn't shy away from comparing the B&B unfavorably with generic motorway lodgings, claiming: "It didn't give us any 'wow' factor.", reports the Mirror.

Meanwhile, another contender, featured in a separate scene, shared less than favourable views on Melvyn's thorough critique, suggesting: "Melvyn gave him a very hard time I thought as if he'd been hunting for things to criticise".

Melvyn wasn't the only one who had issues with his stay, as Deborah and Wayne also expressed dissatisfaction with their breakfast service.

They complained about having to wait for a drink and encountered some service problems, leading Deborah to question if it was their first day.

Gill confessed: "We don't normally serve breakfast. Breakfast is usually served by the staff and we're there talking to the customers so we were out of our comfort zone."

When it came to settling the bill, viewers discovered that one guest paid the exact amount, while another underpaid by £30.

The latter voiced disappointment with the price and described the rooms as dated.

Melvyn and Sindy only coughed up half of the asking price for their room, handing over £40 instead of the required £80.

Explaining his decision, he said: "I wish it had been better because we wanted to pay you more but it was a combination of things. That just really disappointed us."
