Northern Irish broadcaster Eamonn Holmes joked about being "adored by women" as the 64-year-old went slightly off-script on his GB News show.

During Tuesday's instalment of his GB News breakfast show with Isabel Webster, he was asked who his favourite Greek god is after sharing how interested he was in the subject.

Eamonn replied with conviction: "Zeus was the man! The thing about Zeus is, he reminded me of me a bit as he had a lot of women who adored him!

"And then he decided to take a lot of wives on - and I am sort of doing this as well."

function loadOvpScript(){let el=document.createElement('script');el.setAttribute('src','https://live.primis.tech/live/liveView.php?s=114945&playerApiId=v114945');document.getElementById('ovp-primis').appendChild(el)} window.top.addEventListener('primisPlayerInit',e=>{try{if(e.detail&&e.detail.playerApiId==="v114945"){if(window.document.getElementsByClassName('jwplayer')[0]){e.detail.float('disable')}}}catch(e){}});window.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded',()=>{setTimeout(()=>{if(typeof flagTcfLoaded!=='undefined'&&flagTcfLoaded===!0){loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP flagTcfLoaded',new Date())}else{document.addEventListener("tcfLoaded",()=>{loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP tcfLoaded',new Date())})}},1500)})

Looking sheepishly at his notes, he quickly moved on to another subject as his colleague Isabel looked down and grinned.

However, Isabel joked about discussing "soothing Irish accents" to which Eamonn raised his hand and quipped: "Oh, stop! Not more flattery."

It comes after a study found Dublin has the sexiest accent in the UK as it's considered soothing and seductive, with the Cockney accent coming in at second place.

Eamonn's jokey comments about his attractiveness come months after he and his wife Ruth Langsford announced their split.

The pair, who used to host This Morning together, had been in a 27-year relationship, and married for 14 years.

They announced their break-up in May, with a spokesperson sharing: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing."

While Eamonn appeared in high spirits today, he opened up earlier this summer at the TRIC Awards, which was held in central London, about how he was coping.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, the star admitted: "I’m not OK. This is not a good time at all. It’s too early to say but I hope we can still be friends."

After their split was made public, Eamonn shared: "Just before we move on we'd just like to thank people for your support for Ruth and I over the last few days as to the news of our separation.

"Your support for both of us is very much appreciated."

Ruth only returned to the Loose Women panel last week, but it has been reported that she is set to spend some time away from the show again.

GB News with Eamonn and Isabel airs on weekdays from 6am.
