This Morning: Craig Doyle jokes about being rusty

This Morning viewers were unanimous with their praise for stand-in hosts Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle as they filled in for Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard during their summer holidays.

Fans took to social media to express their joy at seeing the pair in charge, with a flurry of tweets calling on ITV bosses to cement Josie and Craigs positions as regular hosts on the daytime show.

Online sentiment was overwhelmingly positive, with one tweet reading: "Craig and Josie should be full-time presenters! #ThisMorning."

Another fan chimed in: "Craig and Josie showing they have way more chemistry in 2 minutes than Ben and Cat have had since they joined the show #thismorning", reports the Mirror.

Further support came from a viewer stating: "Best presenters today, please make Josie and Craig permanent @itv #ThisMorning." Another simply put: "Craig and Josie, yes please."

This surge of accolades starkly differed from the reception last week's temporary anchors, Alison Hammond usually paired with Dermot O'Leary and her companion Joel Dommett received.

As they made their return to ITV, Craig and Josie kicked off the show with playful jests, assuring the audience they had "missed each other" and that Craig was eager to quantify just how much.

He quizzed her with a grin: "On a scale of one to ten, how much have you missed me," to which Josie quipped back: "About an eight."Clearly pleased, he retorted: "I've been a seven before, so I'll take that."

In another moment, Craig seemed to lose track of his script and sheepishly said sorry to both the star of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! and those tuning in, admitting he was a tad "rusty".

Casually starting the segment, Craig announced: "Coming up on today's show..." before turning to Josie to check: "Shall I do that bit," Her ensuing laughter as she agreed, "Yeah," prompted him to joke: "I forgot, I'm a bit rusty," before smoothly launching into what viewers could expect on Thursday's episode.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV from 10am.
