Good Morning Britain has faced backlash over it's reporting of new footage from an incident at Manchester Airport. Fans of the ITV breakfast show bashed presenter Ed Balls for "being biased" as he and co-host Ranvir Singh failed to mention the top news story.

A Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officer was suspended on Thursday after the footage was shared widely on social media, leading to protests in Rochdale and Manchester city centre. The video, obtained by the Manchester Evening News, shows the chaotic scenes which led to an officer kicking and stamping on the head of a man who was lying face down on the floor.

While the ITV show had reported on the incident last week, they failed to give an update when new footage was released. Fans were outraged and branded it a "disgrace" as they pointed fingers at Ed - who is married to Home Secretary Yvette Cooper.

As the show often welcomes MPs on to be grilled by the presenters, fans issued a demand for Ed to interview his wife and hold her to account. Taking to X (formerly Twitter) viewers made their thoughts known.

One wrote: "I can’t wait until Ed Balls interviews the Home Secretary about the Manchester Airport incident. What….? That’s his wife?? No point watching then. @GMB #GMB".

Another added: "@GMB @toryboypierce @CarolineFlint Why don't @gmb talk about @YvetteCooperMP and the police at Manchester especially since Ed balls, her husband is presenting today!. She saw the whole video evidence but still didn't react truthfully."

A third penned: "@GMB Disgrace, not a f-ing mention of the Manchester airport attacks on the police or the arrest of Tommy Robinson on a trumped up terrorism charge. Is it because Ed is presenting?! Conflict of interest but hopefully Ed will be in his job longer than his missus!"

"Good Morning Britain presented by home secretary husband ex New Labour Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls...interviewing Caroline Flint ex New Labour MP...replacement for Jacqui Smith another New Labour as 'political analyst'. Unbiased broadcasting [thinking emoji]," added another.

On Friday night The Independent Office for Police Conduct said a police constable is under criminal investigation for assault. The IOPC stressed it doesn't necessarily mean criminal charges will follow.

But the watchdog confirmed that after the conclusion of its investigation, a decision would be made over whether to refer the case to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV and ITVX
