ITV viewers are in for a right treat this week as the long-standing crime drama is airing in the 9pm slot.
Sadly, the episodes scheduled are repeats, but the reruns mean fans will once again get to see their beloved characters on screen, including Paul Kaye's Dr Malcolm.
Paul, who rose to notoriety in the 90s and as spoof journalist Dennis Pennis, quickly became a big favourite when he joined the Vera cast thanks to his barbed banter with Brenda Blethyn's on-screen alias.
The forensics expert joined the cast of Vera in 2019, however, he stepped down after 14 episodes with his final instalment airing in January last year.
During his final show in January 2023, viewers learned that Dr Malcolm was leaving after getting a new job, which took him away from the team.

Paul's exit was announced by Brenda herself, who told Chronicle Live at the time: "We say goodbye to the wonderful Paul Kaye as pathologist Dr Malcolm Donahue in the third new film Against The Tide.
"Paul is one of the most positive people I know. No matter what the circumstances he’ll find something positive to say.
"There was total respect between Vera and Malcolm along with some very dry humour from him. The relationship between Vera and Malcolm has been interesting to play."

After he left the ITV drama, Paul was confirmed for a theatrical role. In March last yar he was confirmed to star in the Olivier Award-winning play The Pillowman, alongside Lily Allen and Benidorm and League of Gentlemen star Steve Pemberton.
According to IMBD, the Game of Thrones and The Stranger actor has also starred in Sexy Beast, Shardlake, and Trying since leaving Vera.
Vera series 11, episode five, will air at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
