ITV confirms major change for Coronation Street and Emmerdale

Coronation Street teases unique episode from Paul’s perspective

Emmerdale and Coronation Street fans are in for a treat as ITV shakes up the schedule to accommodate the Olympic Games.

The beloved soaps often see their time slots shuffled around during major sporting events, such as the recent Euros 2024 and Women's Euros qualifiers.

However, despite the Olympics being broadcast on BBC, ITV has taken the proactive step of releasing episodes on their streaming service, ITVX at 7am on the day they're due to air, while also keeping the traditional evening broadcast.

The official social media accounts for the soaps excitedly shared the news on their Twitter account at the start of the week. They wrote: "We're giving you a little treat this summer whilst the Olympics are on.

"On each day of transmission, you can find Corrie and Emmerdale episodes on ITVX at 7am! But remember to keep this a spoiler free zone for those watching in the evenings #Corrie #Emmerdale."

Soap fans were quick to voice their approval, with some even calling for this change to become a permanent fixture.

One person commented: "You should upload it to ITV X all the time BBC upload episodes of EastEnders to BBC iPlayer in the morning of Air Day you should do this with both Emmerdale and Coronation Street."

Another chimed in: "Why can't you all just upload episodes early on ITVX permanently like EastEnders."

Thrilled by the change, another viewer wrote: "Finally. Sick of missing corrie because of sport."

This week on Emmerdale, Kim Tate is set for a double dose of heartbreak. She discovers that Ruby and Rose have been deceiving her, and in a shocking twist, Will cheats on her with Rose.

Meanwhile, it seems Ella and Liam's relationship may be over after he makes an unforgivable accusation upon learning she isn't pregnant.

In another surprising development, Moira attacks Samson ahead of his departure, following Matty's release from prison. The aftermath of the chilling events between Tom and Belle at their Welsh cottage last week continues to unfold.
