Corrie: Chesney says he can't go through with the wedding

Coronation Street viewers were left gobsmacked during Wednesday's trip to Weatherfield (July 24) when Chesney Brown confirmed he is turning 30 years old. The dad-of-five currently has the world on his shoulders as he struggles to financially support his young family.

Chesney and his wife Gemma are also facing eviction from their house meaning they will soon be homeless as they wait to be re-housed by their local council.

Speaking to his wife Gemma Winter in The Rovers, downtrodden Chesney said he's not in the mood to celebrate his milestone birthday.

Gemma asked her husband: "So did you want to go out for your birthday tomorrow?", Chesney immediately shut down the idea due to their lack of money.

"Can't afford it can we", he announced as Bernie said: "Thirty's a big one!"

"Yeah I don't really feel like celebrating", Chesney added: "Too worried about the house."

However, the struggling couple were later left shocked when Kit Green explained he was thinking about making an offer to buy Gemma and Chesney's house with their landlord.

Kit explained how he wanted to invest his inheritance in helping out his newfound sister and save them from eviction.

But Corrie fans were left speechless as Chesney's age was confirmed.

Taking to X, one viewer wrote: "Oddly shocked that Chesney is currently in his 20s. #corrie."

A second stated: "Can’t believe i’m the same age as Chesney", while a third exclaimed: "Chesney is only 30 #Corrie."

"How is Chesney only 30? #corrie", asked another.
