Great British Sewing Bee final: What prize does the champion win?

The winner of the Great British Sewing Bee is set to be crowned on BBC One tonight (Wednesday, July 24).

We will see the final three contestants, Pascha, Luke, and Ailsa, take on a string of challenges, including making opera gloves and party paraphernalia into a complete party look.

In the final Made to Measure challenge, the trio will be asked to create a full outfit by draping fabric onto their models.

This tricky set of challenges aim to show their precision and show off their skills in their bid to be crowned series champion and one of the country’s top sewers.

Viewers will be wondering what the champion receives when they win - but what exactly is it?

If you were expecting the winner would receive a big cash prize, you are mistaken.

The winner of the Great British Sewing Bee is awarded a trophy and crowned the title of Britain’s Best Amateur Sewer.

After all, the winner has undergone 10 weeks of difficult sewing tasks that would challenge even the most skilled sewers.

Judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young will pick which remaining contestant is victorious following the three challenges.

Pascha’s black dress for the third Chanel challenge won the Garment of the Week award in last week’s semi-final.

Many viewers feel the Bristol University student will be the person to beat in the final - but don’t rule out Luke and Ailsa possibly winning over the judges.

The winner will be the series’ tenth winner following ten exciting series. The BBC series has been a hit among viewers since April 2013, with millions tuning in every week.

Great British Sewing Bee is broadcast on Wednesdays at 9pm on BBC One. Previous episodes can be watched on BBC iPlayer.
