EastEnders death 'sealed' as BBC soap star confirms 'he doesn't 'have long left'

Suki vows to 'get rid of Nish for good'

EastEnders' Shiv Jalota, who plays Vinny Panesar, has hinted at a dramatic departure for his on-screen father Nish. Earlier this year, it was revealed by the BBC One drama that Nish Panesar (portrayed by Navin Chowdhry) was facing a grim prognosis after being struck down with viral myocarditis.

Doctors have warned Nish that without a heart transplant, which is notoriously hard to secure, his days are numbered.

Vinny, having learned of his father's dire situation, chose to forgive Nish for past wrongdoings and seemed to reconcile. Ravi (Aaron Thiara), another of Nish's sons, also appeared to bury the hatchet.

However, things aren't as harmonious as they appear, reports the Daily Star.

In a twist of fate, Vinny has joined forces with his mother Suki Panesar (played by Balvinder Sopal) in a cunning scheme to swindle Nish and reclaim control over the family's business empire.

Shiv Jalota, 30, spoke about Vinny's complex emotions in the current plot, revealing that Nish's time might be running out.

He shared: "What Vinny knows is that the one thing Nish wants more than anything is his children's love, so that's his most powerful weapon.

"Whenever he has a sense of doubt, he uses that to manipulate Nish, who is the master manipulator himself. Sometimes, I think Vinny does mask his doubts to protect Suki, but he believes he's got Nish right where he wants him."

Shiv also confessed: "I think Vinny does feel a sense of guilt about what he's doing. Despite everything Nish has done, he's still Vinny's dad."

"Nish is on his deathbed, and his time is running out, which only amplifies his guilt. Vinny is forced to morph into a man he never wanted to be just to secure his inheritance."

"Vinny craves the love and trust of both Nish and Suki more than anything else."

Ever since Ravi was revealed as Nish's secret son in 2022, tension has been mounting between half-brothers Vinny and Ravi, particularly when it comes to their father's inheritance.

"It's a fantastic conflict that both Aaron Thiara and I were eager to explore", Shiv commented.

"Ravi views himself as the elder brother, but Vinny is a fully grown man who resents Ravi being the golden boy. From Vinny's perspective, Ravi is doing everything in his power to snatch away his inheritance, making him a threat.

He further added: "Vinny is attempting to outsmart Ravi and beat him at his own game."

EastEnders are keeping how Nish Panesar's storyline will unfold completly underwraps, but it's guaranteed to be dramatic.

EastEnders airs Monday - Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC1 and iPlayer.
