Peter Wright, of The Yorkshire Vet fame, experienced a "nerve-wracking" moment on the set of All Creatures Great and Small during a special shoot.

The cherished veterinarian partnered with co-star Sarah Searson to explore the behind-the-scenes action of Channel 5s beloved drama. Emotions ran high as James Herriot, played by Nicholas Ralph, made his poignant exit, leaving viewers in tears.

During his cameo, Peter found himself tasked with juggling multiple actions at once while in full period garb for a background appearance. He shared his challenge: "I've got to multitask because I've got to walk and I've got to acknowledge people at the same time, and have my newspaper under my arm, so that's three things I've got to concentrate on."

Co-star Sarah recounted the humorous direction Peter received, saying: "The director keeps shouting to him, 'Peter, come over here! ' and 'Peter, go over there!'"

However, Peters stint as an extra didnt go seamlessly; he dropped his newspaper right off the bat. The series narrator depicted the scene: "Across the square, Peter's hoping his natural ability as an extra is going to shine through on his second take, after dropping his newspaper first time around," reports the Mirror.

Admitting to the pressure, The Yorkshire Vet star confessed: "It's nerve-wracking. You've got to do so many things at once. I don't know whether you noticed, but I dropped my newspaper at one point. I think it's every man to his job you know. I think I belong as a vet."

Despite the slip, Sarah was supportive, encouragingly telling him: "I think you've done a fantastic job despite dropping your paper."

Viewers of All Creatures were left teary-eyed as James departed Darrowby in the fourth season, enlisting in the RAF to contribute to the war effort despite veterinarians being exempt from World War II's draft. In reality, the real James Herriot served in the air force until 1943, when he was discharged with the rank of Leading Aircraftman.
