This Morning's Alison Hammond opens up on death fears on ITV show

Alison Hammond says she is scared of dying in America

This Morning's presenter Alison Hammond made a heartfelt confession on the ITV show, revealing her fear about potentially losing her life.

Alison and co-host Dermot O'Leary tackled a range of newsy topics on Wednesday (July 24). During the early segment titled Morning Views, they delved into discussing current headlines and found themselves candidly discussing Sonya Massey, who was tragically shot dead by the police after dialling 911.

The officer's fatal actions towards Sonya led to him being charged criminally. Sonya, an African American woman, was killed by Sean Grayson from Sangamon County Sheriff's Department, who has since been dismissed and formally charged with murder.

Alison voiced her personal take on the issue, admitting that due to racial bias and brutality, she finds herself "nervous" about visiting the United States. She openly admitted: "I'm scared to go to America."

She continued: "Frankly speaking, because I have black skin, I feel anxious about going there. I usually drive when I'm there, and if something unexpected happens and I don't react correctly, then my life could be at risk, it's not a joke.

The incident came to light on Monday when Illinois State Police released bodycam footage showing officers ordering Ms Massey to put down a pot of boiling water while pointing their firearms at her.

This tense situation occurred on July 6 in the early morning hours after Ms Massey, from her home in Springfield located 200 miles south of Chicago, called the authorities fearing an intruder had entered her house.
