Discovery+ is the new home of the Olympics. The streamer is set to broadcast 3,800 hours of sport live from Paris.

Sports fans can get Discovery+ for £3.99 a month until the end of 2024 via Amazon Prime's video channels. This also comes with an Amazon Prime 30-day free trial.

Sports fans have already enjoyed a packed summer, but even though Euro 2024 and Wimbledon are over, there’s plenty more sporting action on the way. On Friday (July 26), the 2024 Olympic Games will kick off in Paris, with more than 300 events in 40 sports taking place over two weeks.

The games will run until August 11 and feature all the classic events including athletics, triathlon and diving, as well as recent additions like skateboarding and sport climbing. Paris will see a new addition added to the Olympic schedule in the form of breaking – or breakdancing – which will make its debut at La Concorde on August 9 as competitors face off in a series of solo battles.

However, unlike previous years, most of the events will not be broadcast live on BBC. That’s because in 2018, Discovery took over the exclusive rights for the games and is set to stream all 32 sports on its platform.

The streamer – which is available via Amazon’s Prime Video – will air live and rolling coverage of each event, starting on Friday (July 26) at 2pm with Argentina v Morocco and Uzbekistan v Spain in the men’s football. Discovery+ is scheduled to broadcast a whopping 3,800 hours of sport from the Olympics, compared to BBC’s 250 hours.

This includes this year’s opening ceremony, which marks the first ever to take place outside a stadium. Kicking off on Friday at 6.30pm BST, the spectacle will be held in the heart of the French capital along the river Seine.

In what organisers have promised will be ‘ambitious, historic [and] spectacular’, the ceremony will see the parade of athletes held on the river with boats for each national delegation. After this, viewers can catch all the action in the swimming, cycling, gymnastics, tennis and much more across two weeks of sport.
