ITV Loose Women brought to sudden halt as Coleen Nolan shares engagement announcement

Loose Women audience members get engaged

Loose Women was brought to a sudden halt as Coleen Nolan shared some exciting news. The ITV programme returned to screens on Wednesday (July 24) as main host Coleen was joined by Mariella Frostrup, Denise Welch and Brenda Edwards.

Shortly after one of the breaks, Coleen revealed an audience member, who is a close friend of hers, had proposed to his partner. "During the break, my friend Liam proposed to his partner Michael," she told viewers.

As a video of the proposal was played, Coleen exclaimed: "Look at this! It's so romantic!" as the audience erupted with cheers. The 59-year-old added: "It was so romantic. Things like that make my day."

After wishing the couple "all the best", Coleen joked that she would be waiting patiently for an invitation to their big day.

It comes after Ruth Langsford returned to Loose Women for the first time since she split with Eamonn Holmes. The former This Morning presenters, both 64, announced they parted ways after 14 years of marriage.

Ruth didn't mention their breakup during her TV comeback, unlike Eamonn, who addressed their split on GB News.

Still wearing her wedding ring, she quipped: "Thank you very much," as she was greeted by applause from the studio audience. "Welcome to the first Loose Women of the week. It's great to have your company."

Coleen was delighted to have her friend back by her side after two months as she interjected: "Wait, wait, wait, before you carry on can I just say, I'm so, so happy that you're back."

After another huge applause, Janet Street-Porter joked: "I'm not, I was left with her and her," gesturing to Coleen and Brenda. Ruth added: "I'm sorry Janet, I won't do it again. It's very nice to be back with you all," before continuing with the show.

Ahead of Ruth's return to the Loose Women panel, a source close to her revealed that she wouldn't be discussing the split with Eamonn in depth on the show.

They told the Mirror: "It has been a tough few weeks but now she feels it is time for her to get back to Loose Women. It is a job she loves doing and even though the split has been very tough, life must go on."

Eamonn and Ruth began dating in 1997 after they were introduced by mutual friends. The couple, who share a son named Jack, tied the knot in 2010. Before announcing their split, they had not been photographed together for two years.
