Coronation Street Mason's return confirmed as he's brutally attacked by mystery culprit

Coronation Street's Mason Radcliffe is set for a shock return - but it’s not looking good for the bully.

The soap bully, played by Luca Toolan, first rocked up to the cobbles last year - and caused plenty of drama. Viewers of the soap were left horrified as they watched him terrorise Maria Connor’s (Samia Longchambon) young son, Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall).

He also managed to get Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) under his wing to bully Liam - much to the horror of Dylan’s dad Sean Tully (Antony Cotton). And things took a dramatic turn on the ITV soap when Mason pulled a knife on Liam.

After months of bullying his fellow students, Mason built quite a reputation for himself both inside and outside of the school grounds. Things got so bad for Liam though, that he thought about taking his own life.

function loadOvpScript(){let el=document.createElement('script');el.setAttribute('src','https://live.primis.tech/live/liveView.php?s=114945&playerApiId=v114945');document.getElementById('ovp-primis').appendChild(el)} window.top.addEventListener('primisPlayerInit',e=>{try{if(e.detail&&e.detail.playerApiId==="v114945"){if(window.document.getElementsByClassName('jwplayer')[0]){e.detail.float('disable')}}}catch(e){}});window.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded',()=>{setTimeout(()=>{if(typeof flagTcfLoaded!=='undefined'&&flagTcfLoaded===!0){loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP flagTcfLoaded',new Date())}else{document.addEventListener("tcfLoaded",()=>{loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP tcfLoaded',new Date())})}},1500)})

This left his mum Maria terrified and paranoid, watching Liam’s every move. The soap legend even set up a camera in their home and refused to let him sleep alone.

However, in April, Mason was sent to a Young Offenders centre for threatening Liam with the knife. During the trial at court, Dylan bravely stood up to Mason, testifying against him.

But over in the soap next week the soap bully gets released from Young Offenders centre - however, things soon take a dramatic return for the youngster.

Spoilers for Monday’s Coronation Street episode (July 22) reveal that an anxious Dylan heads off for a shift at Speed Daal - but Mason’s release is on his mind.

However, Stu (Bill Fellows) is shocked to find a bloody and battered Mason near the precinct.

Meanwhile later on in the week, Dylan’s worst fears come true when he comes face to face with an angry Mason.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News on the red carpet at the RadioTimes.com Soap Awards, actor Luca was quizzed on whether fans will see a different side to Mason.

“A little bit. Corrie haven't been unrealistic. They've not turned him into an angel overnight. They're more highlighting and playing the story of why Mason is the way he is...” he said.

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
