Strictly Come Dancing 'signs up' TV favourite months after 'near-death experience'

Martin Roberts is set to sign up for Strictly Come Dancing.

The Homes Under The Hammer presenter, aged 60, is said to be in the final stages of discussions with the show's executives about showcasing his moves in the forthcoming season.

An insider revealed to The Daily Star: "Martin is just waiting to sign his contract. It'll be a dream come true for him - and a delight for viewers."

Roberts himself dropped a hint while at the recent TRIC awards.

Chatting to the press, he quipped: "I'm like a Ninja Mutant Hero Turtle - I just eat pizzas. Domino's Mighty Meat. I'm the stomach of Domino's, not the face of it."

He continued, expressing concerns about his diet: "I should worry about what I eat because I had a health scare. I need to look after myself better."

"And certainly if I get this TV show later in the year. I'll have to get super fit." He's one of the many stars in the running following the latest rumoured line-up. 

The excitement of a potential Strictly debut comes a year on from Martin's terrifying health scare which he described last year as a "near-death experience".

He previously said on The Big Celebrity Detox: "This year has been a frighteningly horrible year for me. A few months ago, I had a near-death experience and that's rocked me to my core.

"I actually want this to make a difference, do I think it will happen? The jury's out."

He had been rushed to hospital and told he had a "few hours to live" and needed emergency heart surgery. He has since been on the mend and shared regular updates with his followers.
