Delta has unveiled its renovated and expanded lounge at Miami International Airport.

Nearly 4,000 square foot of space and more than 100 seats have been added to the Sky Club, with the facility now able to accommodate around 300 guests.

The renovated lounge now features design inspired by Miami’s “bright colours and sunny beaches”, and a mosaic pays homage to the city’s Art Deco architecture.

The space – which has views over the airport’s H Concourse – now features a new service buffet and additional beverage station, and seating in the expanded area includes single-seat dining tables and a communal table with a central charging point.

Delta will operate 34 peak-day flights to 12 destinations from Miami this summer.

The expansion of the Miami space is a continuation of Delta’s programme of upgrading existing facilities and opening new lounges across the US.

Last year the carrier unveiled a total of seven new, expanded or reopened Sky Club locations, including a lounge within the new Terminal A at New York’s Newark airport and a nature-inspired Sky Club at Minneapolis-Saint Paul.

Delta recently confirmed plans for the much-anticipated debut of its new “premium lounge” concept, with lounges set to open at JFK, Los Angeles and Boston airport this year.

Commenting on the news Claude Roussel, vice president – Sky Clubs and lounge experience, said:

“Miami is an important global transport hub, with increasing prominence in the Delta network. The expansion and renovation of the MIA Club helps us support the growth in this market and elevates the lounge experience to one suited to the profile of this vibrant city.”
