Amazon added a new feature to its Amazon Fresh grocery shopping experience called “Recurring Reservations,” allowing customers to plan ahead and set a preferred day and time window for weekly grocery pickup or delivery.

The service allows customers to set their window up to seven days in advance. Shoppers receive notifications in advance of a reservation expiration, and must check out 24 hours ahead of time to keep their preferred time.

Items can be added to an order at any point before an Amazon shopper begins picking groceries. Reservations can be changed or canceled at any time.

Amazon is also aiming to ease Fresh shopping with “Repeat Items,” another feature for regular shoppers in which favorite items are automatically waiting in a cart in advance. Customers control the quantity and frequency of each item they add, such as milk once a week, or a dozen apples every two weeks.

“These features are perfect for the busy shoppers who want to streamline their weekly shopping trips and never miss their favorite meals,” Amazon spokesperson Kim Kornfeld said in a statement. “It s a great way to make sure customers get all the grocery items they need without the stress of last-minute shopping.”

Recurring Reservations is available in nearly 1,300 cities and towns across the U.S.

Instacart ran a similar recurring delivery feature called auto-order, in which shoppers could select items and choose a delivery frequency in advance. But a note on the company’s website now says that feature is ending Feb. 28.
