One of the recent staples of major wrestling events has been the media scrum after the show. I can’t say I’m a big fan, but it’s a thing that has been pushed by Triple H & Tony Khan, who both love to answer questions from media folks after shows they think went well. Tony kind of dropped the ball with his latest media scrum, which we’ll delve into right now.

Mariah May got one question about potential challengers during the bally-hooed “media scrum”. Nothing else was asked of the AEW Women’s World Champion. She was disgusted, and I was too. I’ve never pretended to be an Internet Wrestling Journalist like a lot of people have. I’m embarrassed to be an Internet Wrestling Writer and have to share space with folks with more access than I that can’t ask Mariah May a single question. Y’all can’t ask the AEW Women’s World Champion a question about what she’s currently doing and what her future goals are? Turrible, as Charles Barkley would say.

I will attempt to make up for the folks that made up that alleged “media scrum” and give Mariah May five questions worth answering while I try and wash my hands of the nonsense that she’s seen from American wrestling media.

5. What are your thoughts on what happened after the main event with Bryan Danielson?

I know that Mariah May & Bryan Danielson have never interacted on television. I don’t know whether or not they’ve interacted behind the scenes, but since I know that Rule #1 of Backstage Etiquette is to shake hands with every other wrestler in the locker room when you arrive, it’s safe to say they’ve met. If AEW is going to trot anybody out in front of the media right after Bryan Danielson got murdered on their PPV, that person should be expecting some type of Bryan Danielson question. Mariah could have either issued her thoughts & prayers or talked about what an asshole Bryan was and he had it coming. Either would have been fine.

4. How hard was Willow’s headbutt, and would you be willing to give her another title opportunity?

Given how close Mariah’s match with Willow Nightingale at Wrestle Dream was, that would be a natural question to ask. In fact, it’s a pretty natural type of question to ask anybody that’s recently been in a wrestling match, or any type of contest. How tough was your opponent? Do they deserve a re-match? How do you feel about them now? Pretty standard interview questions.

3. Now that Toni Storm is currently in your rear view mirror, could you speak on your relationship with her, and what you expect to happen when she returns to AEW?

A reminder that Toni Storm is still alive would be nice! Mariah will probably always be tied to Toni, the same way that Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn are always tied together even if they’re on different shows. When you think of one, you have to think of the other. Asking Mariah about Toni only makes sense.

2. Could you touch on your history with Mina Shirakawa, and where you two are at right now?

I know AEW has tried to explain the relationship with Mariah & Mina, but it’s still a little tough for most of us American wrestling fans to understand. Tony Khan may think that most of his viewers know everything that happened in STARDOM, but they don’t. We need to be beat over the head with these kinds of things. Why is Mariah so infatuated with Mina? Any chance she gets to tell us is a good thing. It’s also a reminder for the powers that be that maybe the Mariah/Mina connection should lead to something.

Honorable Mention: How could you possibly be a fan of Arsenal?

Seriously. Bunch of arses supporting that terrible excuse of a football team. Mariah seems way too cool & fun to be part of that nonsense. Then again, I support Tottenham Hotspur and they’re just a factory of sadness. Good enough to stay in the Premier League forever, not good enough to win it or any other trophy available. I could go on, but I think most folks reading this column aren’t interested in my EPL thoughts and are already mad I brought it up to begin with.

1. What was your inspiration to become a professional wrestler?

This is the first thing I ask anybody that became a professional wrestler, or anybody that became anything. I’m still wanting to become something at my older age, so I’m curious about what sent people on their path. Why on Earth would somebody want to do something that leads to constant injuries while everybody else in the world thinks it’s fake and nobody actually gets hurt? It doesn’t make any sense!

Especially considering the fact that Mariah May is…well, Mariah May, it seems like a question worth asking! She could do anything else and do it well, so it bears asking why she chose this particular field.
