On the latest episode of Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy, the AEW star talked about Daniel Garcia, his future after being written off AEW television in an angle with MJF ahead of his contract expiring this year and more. You can check out some highlights below:
On Daniel Garcia and what has held him back in AEW: “I think Daniel Garcia is a great dude and a great performer. They did the big angle with MJF, and it seems like they were kind of, you know, kind of putting the bait out there. Look, we want you around here. We want to build around you, so we’re gonna give you this, and you re-signed, and then we’re going to full-fledged go in and do this angle with you and MJF and, and build you into a top guy. I mean, it almost sounds like kind of how they tease me with Randy Orton at the end of Raw, right? And then he murdered me. And if I come back, then I get to do something else with him and avenge or then by that, you know, it is what it is like, it feels like they kind of gave him that opportunity in some ways. So I think DG is so young. Whatever decision he makes, if he stays at AEW, he’s going to be good. I think he’s gonna get an opportunity, and he is going to get the opportunity to do this thing with MJF, whatever it may be. I think if he goes to WWE, he’s going to be good. He’s gonna become a star. You just never know. It is hard to tell. I think he’s just so young. Right now, I think if I were Daniel Garcia right now, I would want a full-fledged plan laid out by Tony Khan, MJF or whoever, that what they plan to do with him and how they plan to elevate them, and what they plan to do with them for the next year. Two years, whatever it may be, and I would want to know that I would want to feel comfortable with that, because he has also been a guy like Wardlow that has reached this point where he’s like and got over. And if you pull the trigger and run with him, then he becomes a madman. And they’ve kind of been there a couple of times they haven’t done that, you know, it happened with the DG, it happened with the Wardlow. So I would want to avoid that. But I do think he is young enough, even if he comes back. He gets used to it, and he does this thing with MJF. But then maybe he doesn’t get to where he wants to be. I think when it’s all said and done, he’s going to end up being a star at the end of the day, but now is a great opportunity for him to try and decide which way will benefit him the most. Because as a young talent, someone who has personality, someone who is also excellent in the ring, people are going to be all out for him from both WWE and AEW.”
On whether he would be like an Ethan Page in NXT if he went to WWE: “And then he would end up moving to the main roster a way down the road, which is what Ethan will do, as well. Yeah, I do agree with that. I think he would be highlighted, and he would be treated as a top guy. He would get the potential to be like the face of the company. And I think that’s a great exposure for any talent. I mean, even when I was the face of ECW, as a champion, that was a great moment for me, you know, regardless of what people online say about, well, it wasn’t the top promotion, or it wasn’t this, or it wasn’t that I mean, it’s still you being put in the position to be the face of the company and like, carry the weight of the company on your back. And that’s showing the promoters putting a lot of trust in you. And I definitely think Daniel Garcia could get that from the cook done to NXT.”
