Dustin Johnson, the 4Aces captain, had previously downplayed his chances of returning to the PGA Tour even if a peace deal with LIV Golf presented an opportunity. Following Phil Mickelson's lead, Johnson switched to LIV Golf in 2022 and has since enjoyed a successful time in the Saudi Arabian-backed series, clinching both the individual title and Team Championship.

However, his decision to switch leagues was not without repercussions, as he received a suspension from PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan. The possibility of this suspension ending soon could be on the horizon.

The topic of LIV players returning to the Tour has divided those who chose to stay. The latest to voice their opinion is Wyndham Clark, who believes that while not all members of the breakaway league should be allowed to return, a select few - including Johnson - should be reinstated.

"I think it depends on who it is," Clark said on the No Laying Up Podcast, discussing the potential unification. "I think guys that have had the career where they should be lifelong PGA Tour players, I think they deserve the right to come play the PGA Tour."

"If Dustin Johnson wants to come back and Phil Mickelson and guys that have won, Brooks [Koepka], who have won majors and are most likely hall of famers. They deserve to play wherever the hell they want, because they're so good."

Despite Clark's peace offering, it remains uncertain whether Johnson would seize the opportunity of a potential invite back, given his previous clear stance following the initial merger announcement. When the framework agreement was unveiled last June, several LIV stars voiced their thoughts on a possible return.

As for Johnson, he appeared content with the current state of affairs on the Saudi-backed circuit. "I'm excited for the future," Johnson declared at LIV Andalucia in June 2023.

"I believe this agreement will only enhance LIV, which is already fantastic."

"I'm perfectly happy where I am, and I certainly don't intend to play more golf than I currently do, that's for sure."

Koepka echoed these sentiments, stating: "I've been quite pleased with my decision to be here at LIV, I've enjoyed it. I won't speak for everyone else, but I think everyone is quite thrilled and satisfied with their current situation."
