Scottie Scheffler's caddie brutally shut down a social media user who claimed that 10 million people could replace him. Ted Scott caddied for Bubba Watson for 15 years before teaming up with world No. 1 Scheffler in 2021 and has been instrumental to the 28-year-old's successes on the fairways and the greens ever since.

While many assume that the caddie simply carries a golfer's heavy bag and hands them clubs, they have several often unseen duties to aid their pro partner in their successes - including studying the course to calculate distances to greens and advise on which clubs to hit.

Since teaming up with Scott three years ago, Scheffler has achieved 13 PGA Tour victories and two majors in the form of the 2022 and 2024 Masters. But not everyone is impressed by Scott's impact on the courses - with one troll in particular on social media forcing a clap back from him this month.

Taking to X last week, veteran caddie Kip Henley joked: "I will pay @jtedscott 1.5 million dollars to let me caddie for him next year. That’s risky but I think it’s a solid plan. Teddy Boy can sit on the couch and not have to worry about stepping in a hole and spranging an ankle. Thats fair."

And the satirical post prompted one social media user to reply: "Caddie’ is the most overrated ‘job’ in history. There are literally 10M people in the US that could do Ted’s job." Rubbed the wrong way by the notion, Scott had a witty response to the dig, responding: "Wrong. Not everyone would want to spend time with you because you’re negative and tweet mean stuff.

"So that leaves 9,999,999 people that could do my ‘job’." Caddies usually receive a weekly salary for their duties on the courses, however, should their partnered pro perform well in a particular tournament, they often receive a portion of their prize pot.

TOUR Championship - Final Round

Thanks to Scheffler's emphatic performances on the course this season, Scott is predicted to have made around $5,269,444 (£4million) - with wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Travelers Championship, The Masters, The RBC Heritage and the Memorial all estimated to have landed the caddie $360,000 or more a-piece.

Meanwhile, Schefflers most recent win at the TOUR Championship reportedly bolstered the pro golfer's own net worth by a whopping $25,000,000 (£19,079,745) - Scott estimated to have received ten per cent of which, amounting to around $2.5m (£1.9m).

If correct, Scott's £4million payday for 2024 would rank him 19th in golf's highest earnings for the year - higher than Tiger Woods' earnings for the PGA Tour season as well as 200 other professional golfers.
