Leroy Sane is another winger to have been linked with Liverpool in recent weeks, having entered the final six months of his deal at Bayern Munich.
A cut-price transfer fee of around £20million could be enough to tempt the German giants into selling this month, according to Football Insider.
Liverpool are unlikely to be the only club keen on his signature, though. Manchester United have also been credited with a desire to land Sane before the window slams shut.
Chelsea have been mentioned as another possible destination for the 28-year-old, which suggests that a three-way bidding war could take shape.
Alexander-Arnold saga takes twist
Real Madrid might suddenly have competition in the race to sign Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Until now, it has been a choice between Liverpool and the reigning European champions but another club may be about to join the party.
Bayern Munich are confident of beating Real Madrid to Alexander-Arnold's signature if he decides to leave Anfield, according to German outlet Kicker.
They are said to be planning for life without Joshua Kimmich, who is yet to sign a new contract, and have identified the Liverpool academy graduate as the perfect successor.
