Gary Neville has hailed Liverpool's performance against Tottenham as the best Premier League football he's seen this season.

The Reds, who have consistently led the table and are now four points clear after Chelsea faltered at Everton, were in scintillating form under Arne Slot's leadership, making them firm favourites to clinch the title.

Liverpool's exceptional display, especially in the first half where they scored three goals and stifled Tottenham, left Neville in awe during his commentary stint.

He remarked: "If the rest are watching this is as good a 35 minutes of football as I've seen this season."

Initially sceptical about Liverpool's prospects post-Jurgen Klopp, Neville had predicted they might struggle to make the top four.

However, he has since acknowledged his error, praising the team's commanding start under their new manager at full-time: "One of the most impressive starts from a manager in the Premier League.

"Taking over from Jurgen Klopp, many including myself thought there would be a natural decline and a bit of pain. But it is the absolute opposite, total authority in this match."

Liverpool will be perched at the summit of the Premier League table during the festive period for the seventh time since the league's inception in 1992.

Despite this being a familiar position, their only triumph in the Premier League era came in the 2019-20 season, yet many are tipping them as favourites this year.

Slot commented: "The first 50-55 minutes is what you want, apart from the goal we conceded. 3-1 up and then it ended up being 5-1. We thought it was enough but Tottenham have far too much quality and they're able to create and score.

"Still three games to go until halfway but if you go here and play the game we did then it shows we are a hard team to beat. If it was easy to win the league then every team would do it."
