Manchester United will fail to finish above their current position in the Premier League table, according to a supercomputer. The Red Devils are 13th in the top flight after 16 matches having won just six of their games.

Arsenal, meanwhile, will miss out on the Premier League title by a staggering 12 points, with Liverpool beating Chelsea to land the trophy.

And at the bottom of the table, Wolves have been backed to avoid relegation even though they are currently five points from safety.

United endured their worst-ever start to a Premier League season under Erik ten Hag, with the Dutchman given his marching orders at the end of October following a 2-1 reverse at the hands of West Ham.

But the 13-time Premier League champions haven’t fared much better under new boss Ruben Amorim, with the Portuguese winning just two of his first five league encounters before his side were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Tottenham on Thursday night.

United appeared to be turning the corner after coming from a goal down to dispatch Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium last weekend.

But an AI supercomputer, in association with BetVictor, has predicted there will be little to shout about at Old Trafford in the new year.

The computer has forecasted that United will pick up just 23 points from their remaining 22 games and will finish in a lowly 13th position. That would see them finish below the likes of Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest and Brentford if the model is accurate.

Liverpool will be crowned champions on 92 points ahead of Chelsea, who have been tipped to finish the campaign with 88 points. Arsenal will finish in third place with a tally of 80 points, with Manchester City completing the top four on 74 points.

Aston Villa and Newcastle will finish sixth and seventh respectively, with Tottenham taking the final European spot in seventh.

Meanwhile, the 2024/25 campaign will be a season to forget for Southampton, who have been tipped to finish rock bottom of the table with 20 points. And they will be joined in the Championship next season by Leicester and Ipswich, who will finish in 18th and 19th respectively.

Wolves will beat the drop by three points, with Everton finishing directly above them.
