Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has shared encouraging injury news about Timo Werner, Destiny Udogie and Guglielmo Vicario ahead of their high-profile clash with Liverpool this weekend.

In the victorious aftermath of their 4-3 Carabao Cup triumph over Manchester United, Spurs are hoping for the return of both Werner and Udogie for Sunday's game with the Reds.

While illness sidelined Werner from the action-packed United game, Udogie suffered a leg issue only half an hour into their previous victory against Southampton.

Looking forward to potentially having them back in play, Postecoglou said: "Hopefully. We'll see, the boys are coming in now as it was a late night.

"Timo was unwell yesterday so we've got 48 hours or so before the game and hopefully he will recover. The plan is Destiny should be ok."

The Aussie coach also touched upon Vicario’s situation after the goalkeeper underwent ankle surgery last month, stating he is on the right track: "Going well.

"Typical Vic as he's pushing every boundary. He's still a fair bit away but he'll make sure he's back as quickly as possible. He's still around the group and invested in what we're doing. He's progressing well."

Tottenham are set to face a challenging match without key players Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Ben Davies, Richarlison, Mikey Moore and Wilson Odobert due to injuries.

Despite the setbacks, Postecoglou remains optimistic about taking on the league leaders, acknowledging the difficulty but emphasising his team's commitment to their style of play.

He praised Liverpool's form under new management, saying: "We'll play our football because that's what is winning us games. Liverpool are a fantastic side and are going really well.

"Arne [Slot] has come in and it's not easy when taking over with the status of [Jurgen] Klopp. Very settled as a team and quality in the squad. Real belief at the moment and the standout team in the competition at the moment."
