Ruben Amorim has admitted that Alejandro Garnacho is "a little bit upset with him" after being left out of the Manchester United squad for the derby clash against Man City.

Garnacho and Rashford were excluded from the 20-man matchday squad, with instructions to train at Carrington on derby day instead.

Following United's 2-1 triumph, Amorim clarified that there was no disciplinary action involved but expressed dissatisfaction with their performance in training and recent games.

While Rashford has publicly discussed his plans to depart from United next year, Garnacho has kept quiet.

Amorim praised Garnacho's Monday training session and his attitude ahead of tonight's Carabao Cup clash with Tottenham, saying: "Really good, he trained really well.

"He seems a little bit upset with me and that's perfect. I was really really happy because I would do the same. He's ready for this game."

Rashford, who was ill, did not train on Monday, yet Amorim confirmed he had trained impressively on the day of the match. Amorim faced questions about team news leaks again after United's starting XI against City leaked nearly a full day before kick-off.

United's team news and line-ups have been slipping out ahead of time for years, but the early reveal of the derby squad and the game's importance brought the issue to the forefront.

Amorim has made it clear he's not bothered by the leaks and won't be changing his tactics.

He said: "Nothing. Nowadays, all of the coaches know about it. I explained a lot about the team, how I want us to play, the positions etc.

"I say that because I understand that the coaches have that information just to see one time how Manchester United play, so I’m not really worried about that. I also cannot control that so I’ll do the same things, and prepare the same way.

"For me, it’s more important for my players to go to a game with a clear idea of how to do it than try to hide something to protect the leaking of the starting XI.

"That’s not my focus, I’m not really worried about that."
