Liverpool icon Ian Rush has sent a bold message to Mohamed Salah amid contract uncertainty, telling the Egyptian wizard that the 'grass is not always greener'. Salah, approaching the final six months of his Liverpool contract, along with teammates Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, faces an ambiguous Anfield future.
While continuing to shine on the pitch, Salah's recent revelation after defeating Southampton has sparked concerns. "We're almost in December, I haven't received any offer to stay at the club, so probably I'm more out than in. [I'm] disappointed but we will see," Salah openly admitted.
With 10 goals and six assists this season, he refuses to let contract talks distract him, instead aiming for Premier League and Champions League glory, stating, "I'm not going to retire soon so I'm just playing, focusing on the season and I'm trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well."
Acknowledging his long-standing bond with the club and fans, Salah nonetheless expressed confusion over his stay at Liverpool: "I've been at the club for many years and [there is] no club like this, but in the end, it's not in my hands.
"As I said before, it's [almost] December, so I haven't seen anything yet about my future. I love the fans. The fans love me, but in the end it's not in my hands or the fans' hands so let's wait and see."
Liverpool icon Ian Rush has expressed optimism about retaining the club's key players amidst uncertainty. In a candid interview with SportsBoom, Rush remarked: "Sometimes the grass is not always greener on the other side," and added, "That's what you've got to look at, Liverpool is such a magnificent club. I left Liverpool to go to Juventus but was very lucky to get the chance to come back. I was very privileged."
He further noted, "Let's see what happens, but at the end of the day all players leave or retire at some stage. But for me I don't think any of them want to leave Liverpool. Liverpool is such a big club, a special club with such special supporters."
Emphasising his affection for the current squad, he said, "I enjoy watching all of those players. I don't know what's going to happen, but the three of them have been fantastic for Liverpool. Once the players buy into the club it's so hard to leave. It's such a magnificent club."
