Manchester United have reportedly sent scouts to watch Viktor Gyokeres in action against Arsenal in the Champions League, along with two of his Sporting Lisbon team-mates.

Since joining Sporting in the summer of 2023, Gyokeres has become one of Europe's top strikers and has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs.

Arsenal have long admired the Swedish international, but United have also emerged as potential suitors after they hired his former boss, Ruben Amorim, from Sporting. Amorim is keen to reunite with Gyokeres and two other Sporting players next summer if United can provide the necessary funds.

As reported by The Mail, Gyokeres is on United's radar and signing another striker is a priority for the club. Teenage sensation Geovany Quenda and Pedro Goncalves are also of interest.

Manchester City are also monitoring Gyokeres' situation, with their incoming director of football, Hugo Viana, likely to lead a rival bid for the striker next summer.

However, United have promised not to make a move for any of Sporting's talent in January. Sporting sensation Gyokeres is setting the pitch ablaze, netting an impressive 24 goals in just 19 matches, stirring a frenzy among fans and clubs alike.

Despite the swirling rumours, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta kept his cards close to his chest, steering clear of commenting on connections with Gyokeres, maintaining focus on the upcoming clash with the Portuguese titans.

In contrast, sharpshot keeper David Raya couldn't hold back his admiration, hailing the ex-Coventry City striker as "We know his strengths, how he runs a lot in behind and scores a lot in one-v-one and he is a top player in form.

"We are going to try and keep him very, very quiet. Don't give him any chances. We have to step up defensively. Hopefully we can do a great job and keep a clean sheet."
