Ruben Amorim's first post-match Sky Sports interview as Manchester United manager was gatecrashed by Ed Sheeran. The Portuguese boss saw his new club draw 1-1 at Ipswich, with Marcus Rashford's early goal cancelled out by Omari Hutchinson's strike.

And while Amorim was in full flow explaining the changes his players had to adapt to at Portman Road, Sheeran rocked up and shook hands with pundit Jamie Redknapp.

Presenter Kelly Cates seemed surprised by the sudden addition to the panel, but remained unflustered as she welcomed the music superstar.

"Ed Sheeran has come to join us, Ed, we are just chatting to Ruben Amorim who may not want to talk to an Ipswich fan," she said, before a subtle reference to one of his songs. "But we're making the point that he was almost 'perfect'."

Sheeran didn't seem perturbed by his awkward entrance, replying with: "I love it. I love being back in the Premier League." At that point, his friend Redknapp appeared to subtly usher him away.

"Tell you what, I'll come and have a chat in a minute," he said. As Sheeran walked away, Cates added: "Thank you Ed, we're really glad to see you."

Amorim however, didn't seem to share that sentiment. He looked confused as Cates explained in vain: "It's unpredictable when we're here pitch-side sometimes."

Sheeran is a lifelong Ipswich fan, and was seen celebrating wildly in the stands after Hutchinson levelled. Whether the incident put Amorim off further interviews remains to be seen, but before leaving he joked he'd already had enough of Sky media duties.

He added: "I want to say that this is like the last time.....I mean this week I spoke more in four days than I did in four years in Sporting. And then when you speak too much and you don't win, it's really hard for everybody.

"So I do one week, and only one week, and now I just want to work with my players and nothing more. But I understand this is a different game here, so let's see."

The media scrutiny on Amorim is unlikely to die down this week however. United host Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League on Thursday, before welcoming Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.
