New Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has already given up on one player as he begins to assess his new squad, according to reports.
Joshua Zirkzee, who scored on his debut for the club earlier this season, has struggled to maintain that form, contributing just two assists and failing to score in the 16 games since.
The 23-year-old is believed to have been a topic of discussion for Amorim as he spends his work week at Carrington holding meetings with different United figures.
Despite hopes that Amorim could spark a resurgence in Zirkzee's form, Tuttosport claim the United boss has already decided the Dutchman is 'not adequate'.
The report adds that Amorim has requested to bring Sporting superstar Viktor Gyokeres to Old Trafford, potentially leading to Zirkzee being loaned out as early as January.
Prior to Amorim's appointment, the former Bologna and Bayern Munich striker had been linked with a temporary move to Juventus, and the Turin-based side are still said to be interested.
Italian reports indicate that Juventus have already begun attempts to secure Zirkzee's services, and his salary is not considered prohibitive. United hope to see their £36.5million summer investment retain value.

Arsenal icon Ian Wright has admitted he's not convinced about the future of Zirkzee at United under Amorim's leadership. He recently shared his candid thoughts, stating: "Do you know something? When I look at the strikers at Manchester United, I look at [Rasmus] Hojlund and Zirkzee.
"Going forward, as a United player to take the club to the level they need to be – top four, Champions League, title challengers – I can't see in any formation Zirkzee making it from what I've seen so far.
"I can see it with Hojlund, he looks like a future player with better players around him. He gives me the impression that if he gets in and around the box and he gets chances, he can go hot.
"I don't see the same with Zirkzee. I look at him and his movement, I don't see anything in his game that makes me think, 'Okay, there he is, I see what he can do'."
Wright continued: "I see that in Hojlund and some of the others. I can see them easily levelling up but I feel for Zirkzee."
Amorim, who took over the reins at Old Trafford on Monday, knows well the urgency of enhancing United's goal-scoring prowess.
Erik ten Hag had clearly signalled the critical issue at hand before his dismissal last month.
"Not scoring goals, not scoring goals enough. That's the problem, the key area. We have to score more goals as a team," the Dutchman explained.
"I think we have players across the team who have the ability to score. That's clear. You see all the opportunities we are creating, we are not scoring enough."
