Rasmus Hojlund's training zeal left his teammate with a dental disaster during a Denmark national team session.

The Manchester United forward, gearing up for the Euros this summer, was involved in an intense set piece drill that ended in mishap. Leicester City's goalkeeper Mads Hermansen bore the brunt of the incident after clashing with Hojlund in the air.

On The Fozcast with Ben Foster, Hermansen recounted the painful moment: "You know as a goalkeeper sometimes when you have set piece practice. It's like 'are we going 100 per cent? Are we just a bit easy?"

He continued, detailing the optional training: "So we were with the national team just before the Euros it was optional training, you could come in and train if you want. So let's do some corners."

Hermansen then described the unfortunate collision: "I go: 'Keepers! ' And he [Hojlund] just comes in with everything, elbow straight to my tooth. I took a corner off when I was younger as well so it was just the same bit of plastic."

Former United keeper Foster didn't mince words about Hojlund's overzealous approach, expressing his disapproval: "Cheers Rasmus, appreciate that. That's rubbish that. I'm not having that, it's poor. When you're doing it in a bit of practice set piece thing, you've got to take it easy. You can't go full blooded like that."

But Hermansen insisted there was no need to curb his teammate's fiery approach, heaping praise on him by saying: "But he is that kind of guy and I love that about him. He's giving everything, always. He's just got an exceptional way of being a professional."

Denmark powered through to the last-16 of Euro 2024 after navigating a clash between two Premier League big-hitters. Finishing second in Group C, they lined up behind the formidable England side.

However, the Danes' journey was halted in the knockout phase by a strong German squad, with Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala securing victory for the host country. United's forward, Hojlund, has had an uneven start to his season due to national duties.

The young striker, at just 21, faced the setback of missing initial matches due to injury but has since made a striking comeback. Hojlund celebrated his season's first goal during an enthralling Europa League match against Porto.

Looking ahead, Hojlund is set to team up with his Denmark colleague Hermansen on numerous occasions as United gears up to welcome Leicester to Old Trafford twice, both for Premier League and Carabao Cup battles.
