Manchester City have been handed a huge boost in their bid to sign Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala. The 21-year-old has been in talks over a new deal with the Bundesliga club, with his current contract expiring in the summer of 2026.

But he has now reportedly rejected their latest offer, with Bayern seemingly reluctant to meet his wage demands.

The development follows the attacking midfielder excelling for Germany at Euro 2024, scoring three times and sharing the golden boot with five other players, including club team-mate Harry Kane.

According to the Mirror, Musiala is demanding £300k-a-week, which advisors believe represents his value following his displays this summer. And it’s City who are now favourites to pounce next year when Bayern will seemingly need to sell him or risk losing a prize asset for free 12 months later.

City are far from the only club linked however. Premier League rivals Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal, as well as Champions League holders Real Madrid, are also said to be tracking the situation.

Bayern have seemingly not given up on talks with new manager Vincent Kompany keen to keep him in Munich. They reportedly value the player at around £120million, a fee likely to price many top clubs out of the running.

Sky has slashed the price of its Sky Sports, Sky Stream, Sky TV and Netflix bundle in an unbeatable new deal that saves £216 and includes 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.

With Ultra HD included at no extra cost, football fans can enjoy the 2024/25 season with crystal clear picture quality.

Musiala is widely viewed as one that got away in English football, having represented both the Three Lions and Germany at youth international level. Having moved to the UK as a youngster, he spent time at academies at both Southampton and Chelsea before leaving for Bayern in 2019.

But in February 2021, he announced he had decided to represent his birth nation, and at Euro 2020 became the youngest player to appear for Germany at a major tournament.  He’s since gone on to win 36 caps, scoring six times.

And despite being at loggerheads with his club, he played a crucial role in their 6-1 win at Holstein Kiel on Saturday. Playing just behind Kane, he struck after just 15 seconds, the third fastest goal in club history.

Only this week, he dismissed speculation that his close friendship with Joshua Zirkzee would lead to him following the forward to United. The pair came through the Bayern academy together.

“You always joke around with friends and dream of playing together in the same team one day,” he said. “The jokes go both ways: I also told Josh that he should come back to Bayern. But you shouldn’t take that too seriously.”
